In mid-November, we hosted a full-day practical training session for officials and managers from Serbian Customs and Market Inspection. The turnout exceeded expectations, with participants joining us from nearly every customs office in Serbia, as well as market inspectors from cities across the country.
The training, held by our colleagues Milica Mancic, Dusko Majkic, Dusan Kovacevic, and Tamara Salazar, provided participants with the opportunity to gain deeper familiarity with the brands we protect—whether through trademarks, copyrights, or geographical indications. We covered brands spanning a wide range of industries, including textiles, fashion, automotive, and pharmaceuticals.
The sessions were not just about introducing the history and reputation of these brands. A major focus was on practical guidance: how to spot counterfeit products, what specific details to look for, and how to distinguish between fake and genuine items. Real-world examples and clear instructions formed the core of the training, ensuring that everything discussed could be directly applied in the field.
We are incredibly grateful to all attendees for their active engagement throughout the training. Their thoughtful questions, insights, and practical examples from the field enriched the discussions and offered valuable perspectives. By sharing their experiences with importers and businesses involved in counterfeit goods, they added an extra layer of real-world relevance to the sessions.
Looking ahead, we are excited about the prospect of making this an annual tradition—creating a platform for exchanging field experiences and sharing practical, actionable tools to strengthen the fight against counterfeiting and protect intellectual property.
